AUSTIN (KXAN) — Medics responded to 15 more K2 incidents on Monday, bringing recent totals to 120 calls and 141 patients. Austin paramedics have continued to see an increase in K2 patients over the past several days.
On Sunday, paramedics responded to nine incidents. The tally includes incidents since May 29.
Recent K2 cases have caused patients to have seizures and convulse, and some are becoming extremely violent. Officials also say this latest batch of K2 is sending some people to the hospital with an extremely low heart rate and blood pressure.
However, no deaths have been reported thus far, but Austin-Travis County EMS officials warn that K2 is a dangerous drug that can be deadly. Meanwhile, police are working to find the distributor who is selling the drug in Austin.
