FREDERICKSBURG, Texas (KXAN) – People who knew one of the men missing in the floods remembered him in a special way Friday night.

The Whataburger staff in Fredericksburg roped off Kenneth Reissig’s favorite booth, where he stopped by at least once a week.

“His smile. He’d come in and have a big ol’ smile and wave to everybody,” said Mary Green, who works at the restaurant. “It’s just one of those things you could depend on seeing once a week, that big ol’ smile of his. So that’s what we’re going to miss.”

The Gillespie County man was driving back from his granddaughter’s wedding when he swept away by floodwaters near the Blanco-Hays County line.

Reissig’s family said he was able to escape and make it to a tree, but the 81-year-old was not able to hold on.
