All lanes of I-35 back open in San Marcos

TxDOT

SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) — The Texas Department of Transportation is shutting down Interstate 35 in San Marcos on Friday afternoon to make emergency repairs to a bridge.

TxDOT says north and southbound main lanes of IH-35 at the Blanco River will be closed starting at 3 p.m. Traffic will detour to the access roads at Exit 208, and proceed to the next entrance ramp. Lane closures will begin about two miles in advance in both directions.

Northbound lanes re-opened around 7:30 p.m. Southbound lanes re-opened just before 9 p.m.

Earlier Friday, a car going southbound ran off the road, hit a guardrail and damaged the sign bridge support on the west side of the interstate.
