O. Henry Hall sold to Texas State University System

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The historic O. Henry Hall is being sold from one university system to another. On Thursday, the Board of Regents of the Texas State University System (TSUS) approved the purchase of the historic landmark in downtown Austin, from The University of Texas System.

The 134-year-old building located at 601 Colorado St. once served as a federal courthouse and post office. The UT System took it over in 1968.

The building will be leased back to the UT System until the system completes construction of a new headquarters, which is anticipated in 2017.

TSUS’s 24 full-time employees are currently spread across three state office buildings in downtown Austin. The acquisition of O. Henry Hall will allow TSUS to centralize its services under one roof.
