NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (KXAN) — After police asked the public for help in identifying a woman found shot dead and lying on a sidewalk in front of a New Braunfels business early Thursday morning, they have now positively identified her. Police say the family of Samantha Miranda, 23, has also been notified.

Police responded to a report about shots fired in the 900 block of S. Interstate 35, along the southbound access road, around 12:45 a.m. Officers got there to find Miranda dead from a gunshot wound, lying in front of LoneStar Fiberglass Pools. New Braunfels Police detectives were called to the scene and immediately began investigating the case as a homicide.

At this point, no arrests have been made.

“My wife’s real uncomfortable about it,” said neighbor Joe Espinoza. “We’ve lived here quite while and never expected anything like this to happen.”

Because this is an ongoing investigation, police say no further information will be released at this time.
