AUSTIN (KXAN) —  A man charged with involuntary manslaughter in 2012 was arrested Tuesday by members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force. Police said Edgardo Lopez-Valadez, 31, was responsible for a 2009 Pflugerville crash that killed 37-year-old Rafael Garcia.

The three-vehicle crash happened on FM 1825 near Vision Drive when Lopez-Valadez allegedly turned in front of Garcia, causing a head-on collision, police said. The impact caused Garcia to run into the back of a Chevy Tahoe.

Lopez-Valadez, a Mexican national, was not charged in connection to the crash until 2012. Authorities arrested him at an apartment complex near Slaughter Lane and South 1st Street about 4:20 p.m. Task force members had him under surveillance leading up to the arrest, according to Austin police.

He is being held in the Travis County Jail on $80,000 bond.
