AUSTIN (KXAN) — After raising nearly $90,000 to install automatic push button doors at Austin High School, Archer Hadley is taking his fundraising efforts to other schools.
This week, Crockett High School started raising money as part of the Wheelchair Challenge. Crockett High is the first school to try it since Hadley launched it at Austin High School last fall.
Hadley’s efforts raised enough money to install the doors to make it more accessible for disabled students to get around school.
“I wanted to show them that I, along with other people with disabilities, can accomplish as much as you or any other able-bodied person can,” said Hadley.
In just two days, students at Crockett High have managed to raise $390.
Several other Austin area schools are wanting to start their own wheelchair challenge.
