AUSTIN (KXAN)-The Texas softball team will open the post season in Los Angeles against San Diego State Thursday. No. 7 seed UCLA is the regional host.

The Longhorns and Aztecs play at 5 pm Thursday. UCLA will face Cal State Northridge. The winner of the regional will face the winner of the Missouri regional in a Super Regional. The Women’s College World Series is May 28-June 3 in Oklahoma City.

Texas won five of its final six regular season games including a 5-0 shutout of Baylor Sunday. The Longhorns took two of three from 16th ranked Baylor.

“It was huge for our momentum going into the postseason. We talked a lot this week about having a quality opponent to finish our regular season with and just the importance of being able to make adjustments because that’s what it’s going to be when we get into the postseason,” head coach Connie Clark said.
