Voters approve $52.5M Eanes ISD bond

WESTLAKE, Texas (KXAN) — Voters approved a $52.5 million bond Saturday night, which will cover upgrades for schools including technology projects and repurposing buildings. Taxes are not expected to rise following its approval.

According to unofficial results from the Travis County Elections Office, voters approved the proposition at 65 percent.
The major components of the bond includes: facility needs at campuses, address student safety and security, expand co-curricular academic programs and extracurricular facilities and improve technology for student-centered learning. In addition, the bond is expected to provide funding for the replacement of systems at the end of their useful life cycle, including air conditioning units and school buses.
Last year Eanes ISD voters struck down a similar bond that would have totaled to $89.5 million, along with a new elementary school and traffic control projects. In March it was announced that Eanes ISD was facing a deficit near $6 million.
