AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Sports Commission has received certification for a new college football bowl game. The game is expected to be played at UT’s Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. The exact date has not been confirmed, but the group hopes to play the game on Dec. 29 or Dec. 30.

Details are being finalized on the two conferences, but the commission has had discussions with the American Athletic Conference and the Sun Belt Conference. Texas State plays in the Sun Belt and has been bowl eligible the past two seasons. However, the Bobcats have not been invited to play in their first bowl game.

Austin’s bowl is one of three new postseason games certified by the NCAA. The other two will be in Tucson, Arizona, and Orlando, Florida. That will bring the total number of bowl games to 42 in 2015.
