Suspicious letter sent to Hays County Sheriff’s Office

SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) — The Hays County Sheriff’s Office had to be placed on restricted access on Monday morning after authorities discovered a suspicious letter in the building. The letter contained a powdery substance.

Officials from Hays County Sheriff’s Office, Hays County Office of Emergency Management, Hays County Hazardous Materials Team and the Federal Bureau of Investigations responded to the scene.

By noon, the building had been cleared and all personnel were allowed back in. The Hays County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigations will be conducting the investigation.
