AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police are looking for a driver who hit and killed a man on North Lamar Boulevard early Monday morning. It happened around 1:30 a.m. near the intersection of Lamar Boulevard and Rutland Drive.
A witness called police when they saw the man in his 40s get hit in the middle of the road. The driver who hit him did not stop. Right now, police do not have a description of the car. Also, detectives are trying to figure out if the man wanted to be hit.
“Possibly, the subject may have walked out in the road — either to get across or could have been trying to deliberately get hit. That’s undetermined at this time; possibly, the subject was trying to be hit by a vehicle,” said APD Sgt. Billy Hurst.
Austin police have not released the name of the man who was killed. North Lamar Boulevard reopened at 5:30 a.m.
