Fayette County man drowns after falling into creek

FAYETTE COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — A Fayette County man who fell into a flooded creek on Saturday afternoon drowned. According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, they responded to a private property near Catfish Lane for an elderly man who fell into a creek while repairing a fence near the creek.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens, the La Grange Fire Department and Fayette County EMS helped recover the body of 77-year-old Jimmy Lehmann.

Family members told KXAN Lehmann may have hit his head and been knocked unconscious.

Over the past three days, the area around La Grange has received around 1.25 inches, while up in Giddings they received around 3.75 inches.
