AFD truck responding to overnight calls gets stuck on steep hill

AUSTIN (KXAN) — We found fire crews in a tricky situation Monday morning after running on several calls about downed trees and power lines in West Campus. A ladder truck got stuck at the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and David Street.

The hill there is so steep that the back of the truck dragged and caught. The fire captain said one of their smaller trucks would have not had a problem.

They took the ladder to respond to a high-rise call and a house fire call that turned out to be just a power line problem, but then they had trouble getting out of the neighborhood. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
