Parents want answers in New Braunfels cold case

Jonathan Groce

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (KXAN) — It’s been five years since Ernest and Hilda Groce last saw their son, but they haven’t given up hope.

New Braunfels Police are asking for anyone with tips on a missing person case to come forward. Jonathan Groce was last seen on Oct. 8, 2010 in the Cibolo area and his family or friends have not heard from him since.

The next day, his 1984 black Chevy Caprice station wagon was found in New Braunfels at the intersection of Loop 337 and Gruene Road. An area search by officers and K-9 units did not return any clues and no financial activity has been recorded on Groce’s credit cards or bank accounts since his disappearance.

Groce is described as a white male, 5 feet, 11 inches, weighing 150-165 pounds with brown hair, brown eyes and facial hair. He was last seen wearing a blue button up shirt, olive cargo shorts and tan shoes.

CrimeStoppers is asking anyone with information on Groce’s whereabouts to contact authorities. A reward of $5,000 is being offered for information about any potential foul play that leads to the arrest or indictment of anyone involved in his disappearance.
