Roddick and McEnroe among tennis stars in Cedar Park

CEDAR PARK, Texas (KXAN) — A quartet of retired tennis stars, who remain among the biggest names in American men’s tennis, took to the court at the Cedar Park Center Thursday night as part of a one night exhibition series.

The PowerShares Series brought together Austin native Andy Roddick, John McEnroe, Jim Courier and James Blake for three one-set matches.

Roddick defended his home turf. The youngest player in the field defeated Courier 6-3 to win the fifth stop in a 12-city tour. Courier advanced to the final after beating McEnroe – still animated and competitive at 56 years old – in a tiebreaker.

The series continues in Little Rock, Arkansas, Friday and stops in Dallas on Saturday, with Mark Philippoussis replacing Blake. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
