AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man is facing a murder charge, accused of killing his child’s mother last weekend. According to an arrest affidavit, Miguel Angel Aguinaga Rodriguez, 33, caused the death of 32-year-old Elizabeth Adame-Gaspar

On Sunday, when Adame didn’t pick up her children from the babysitter, a friend went to Adame’s apartment at 1803 E. Anderson Lane to check on her. The friend found Adame unresponsive and not breathing. Police determined the victim had injuries sustained from an assault and the Medical Examiner determined her death was a homicide, according to the court documents.

While investigating the case, detectives learned the victim was assaulted in the past by the father of her youngest child.

On Monday, Rodriguez was arrested in Sweeney, Texas for a misdemeanor charge of assault with injury/family violence regarding Adame. When Austin police conducted an interview with Rodriguez, he said he “might have hit her twice” but he never confessed to the knowing the victim was dead when he left the apartment, according to the affidavit.

Rodriguez is currently in the Travis County Jail on $1 million bond and an Immigration Naturalization Service hold.
