AUSTIN (KXAN) – It was a big night Thursday for an Austin-based charity founded by the star-studded Mack Brown, Jack Ingram and Matthew McConaughey.

The Mack, Jack and McConaughey fundraiser was held at the ACL Live Moody Theater. The event gives money to local charities designed to help children.

The two-day event started in 2013 and has already given nearly $2 million to local charities.

“We created a friendship, you know, we created something that wasn’t there,” said musician Jack Ingram. “As a songwriter, as an actor, when you create something that wasn’t there that is a success, it’s very gratifying.”

“It’s at least given a single focus for this weekend, and still be able get money to the charities,” said former Longhorns head football coach Mack Brown. “We want people to have fun, we want to raise a lot of money for these kids to empower them, and both are happening.”

The headliner at the event was Toby Keith. A golf tournament will be held Friday leading up to another concert with Jack Ingram and Friends.
