Austin students aim for change with Legacy of Giving

Austin (KXAN) — Some competitive local students got to show off their video skills Saturday creating videos to convince you about the benefits of healthy living. These students were tasked with filming 30-second videos on making Austin healthier at a Film and Food festival held by the A Legacy of Giving program.

The idea of the Legacy of Giving PSA is to showcase healthy eating choices and a healthier lifestyle.

“We know that child obesity is a problem in our country and this is why this partnership is so important because it’s educating our kids about making healthy choices. And what you saw today is the voice of our kids explaining to our families the importance of healthy choices,” said Edmund Oropez, Chief Schools Officer.

The winning PSAs produced by the students will air on KXAN. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
