April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Dell Children’s Medical Center has a unique display to bring awareness about a serious issue in Texas.

The 151 pinwheels outside the hospital represent the number of Texas children who died last year from child abuse or neglect. The hospital has a team of healthcare and social workers dedicated to helping victims of child abuse.

Dr. Kelly Liker, medical director of Child Abuse Pediatrics at Dell Children’s stopped by KXAN to talk about the resources available and the importance of raising awareness on this issue is.
