Construction around Seaholm closes temporary bikeway

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The bikeway that runs along the Seaholm development will be closed until 2016 while construction crews work on building sidewalks in the area.

In order to construct the sidewalks, the construction along Cesar Chavez Boulevard from San Antonio Street to Shoal Creek will close the temporary bikeway located on Cesar Chavez Boulevard. Bicycle and pedestrian traffic will now detour to the new Walter E. Seaholm Drive. Cyclists and pedestrians can access destinations downtown and west of downtown by using Third Street instead of Cesar Chavez Boulevard.

By the end of 2016, multiple bicycle and pedestrian improvement projects in the Seaholm District will be complete.
