Bomb Squad investigates powdery substance in Travis County building

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department Bomb Squad has determined a package that contains white powder in Downtown Austin is not dangerous. Emergency crews responded to the Travis County Office Building at 700 Lavaca Street around 10:30 a.m. on Friday.

A spokesperson for the Travis County Sheriff’s Office said an employee found the powdery substance. After inspecting the item, police determined there was no danger to the building and the people inside. The lockdown was lifted around 1 p.m. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
