Austin (KXAN)- Several neighbors in South Austin were awoken Thursday morning to what sounded like gunshots.

Austin police said they were serving a warrant and had fired flashbangs into a house near West Slaughter and United Kingdom Drive around 6a.m.

APD’s Watch Commander said there were no gunshots fired and the flashbangs were fired to confuse the suspect as they entered the home.

Watch Commander denied to label the call as a ‘SWAT call’ because the subject was not barricaded or refusing to exit the home.

The case was being turned over to the narcotics division as of 7a.m.; it’s unknown if the suspect was taken into custody.
