AUSTIN (KXAN) — A 43-year-old man died from injuries sustained in a crash last month, not from a medical condition as previously believed. Stephen Edward Horn was driving his Jeep Grand Cherokee down Slaughter Lane, just west on S. 1st Street, about 7:15 p.m. on March 27 when the vehicle went off the roadway and down a concrete embankment. The Grand Cherokee bottomed out before coming to rest in an empty field.

Horn was taken to South Austin Medical Center where he died later that day. The crash was initially thought to be the result of a medical issue, police said, but the Medical Examiner said that was not the case.

This was Austin’s 26th deadly traffic crash and 26th death of 2015.
