AUSTIN (KXAN) — Teachers here in Central Texas, as well as across the nation, are turning to a crowdfunding website to fill needs for their classrooms. Requests from our area are picking up steam on DonorsChoose.org. It’s where teachers apply for donations for classroom projects not funded in the school budget.

There’s a request for books at the Texas School for the Deaf, iPads at Andrews, Lee and Patton elementary schools, and a GoPro for Westlake High School’s library. The projects are vetted by the Donors Choose Board of Directors.

You can type in your zip code to find projects in your area.
