H-E-B pulls all Blue Bell products amid health concerns

H-E-B removed all Blue Bell products from its shelves Saturday amid food safety concerns.

AUSTIN (KXAN/AP) – H-E-B has chosen to voluntarily remove all Blue Bell Products from store shelves due to food safety concerns. The move comes as Blue Bell Ice Cream has temporarily closed down its Broken Arrow, Oklahoma production facility. H-E-B customers are encouraged to return Blue Bell products to stores for a full refund.

H-E-B also announced that they plan on returning Blue Bell to their shelves once they determine the products are safe.

Friday, Blue Bell Ice Cream said it’s suspending operations at the Broken Arrow facility that officials had previously connected to a foodborne illness that contributed to the deaths of three people.

In March, KXAN reported on Blue Bell’s first recall of several products after they were linked to cases of Listeriosis. These cases caused individuals to become ill, with three deaths reported from the initial cases.
