AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin City Council voted Thursday to endorse a bid to ask for state money to help pay for the X Games. Circuit of the Americas will host the even for the next three years.

The city agreed to back the facility’s request for funding from the Texas Major Event Trust Fund. This year’s event will be held June 4-7.

AFD Staffing Changes

Council members passed an ordinance Thursday that will create and eliminate some Austin Fire Department positions, but will not add any new jobs. The measure will not affect the budget.

According to the city, the measure repeals the classification ordinance adopted by council in September 2014 and establishes all positions in the classified service of the department.
