City hosts job fairs for summer lifeguards

AUSTIN (KXAN ) — If you’re interested in being a lifeguard this summer, the City of Austin is hiring! The City will host four hiring days through the end of May.

The City needs more than 750 lifeguards for its 50 aquatic facilities. Wages range from $8-$10.25 an hour.

Hiring Dates for the 2015 season:

  • Friday, April 3 from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Thursday, April 16 from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Thursday, May 7 from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Wednesday, May 20 from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.

All of the hiring dates will be held at the Aquatic Administration and Training Facility at 2828 San Gabriel, Austin.

Last summer, the City had to close several pools due a lifeguard shortage.
