NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (KXAN) — A man with a New Braunfels address showed up on a “target list” reportedly released by ISIS. The list included the names of about 100 U.S. military service members.

The New Braunfels Police Department released a statement Wednesday saying the service member lives in Comal County and has a New Braunfels address, but does not live within the city limits.

“It should be noted that this threat is directed at the service members and not the entire city of New Braunfels, as some have speculated,” the department said.

Federal authorities alerted local police to the situation and the service member is also aware that his name showed up on the list. The Comal County Sheriff’s Office said they are providing extra patrols in the area where the service member lives.

“This is more about intimidation and propaganda,” a US defense official told NBC News. Authorities added no specific or credible threats have been made against the service member living in Comal County. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
