AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man who was going into the Heman Marion Sweatt Courthouse on Tuesday was arrested, accused of having 1.1 grams of methamphetamine on him, according to court documents.

Authorities said James Mason, 40, was going through the security line when the deputy monitoring the line noticed something in Mason’s hand. When the deputy asked Mason to place the small container the tray, he was reluctant to do so and said, “It’s my wife’s wedding ring,” according to the affidavit.

When the suspect handed over the container, the deputy found small rocks, which police say ended up being methamphetamine. Mason was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
