LEANDER, Texas (KXAN) — A woman found dead last week inside a Leander home will be laid to rest Tuesday. Police are still trying to determine how 36-year-old Errin Hawkes died last Wednesday. Investigators say her husband called police when he came home and found the body.

“There was a calmness she exuded, and a confidence,” said Lydia Harter, remembering the first time she met Errin last year. “I just immediately felt comfortable around her. I cannot imagine anyone ever wanting to hurt her … I really can’t.”

They immediately hit it off, becoming strong friends, even spending holidays together.

“I can’t imagine her not being at our wedding,” Harter added. “I can’t imagine her not being there for next Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s.”

Harter says she was shocked when Errin’s husband Chris called her last Friday to tell her friend was dead.

“I was really hoping it was a sick joke he was playing on me, and then I heard his voice break.”

Police have not yet said how Errin died, but say this is an isolated incident and that there is no threat to the public.

Correction: The original version of this story implied that Hawkes’ death was the result of homicide in that police were “searching for a killer.” That information was incorrect. No official cause of death determination has been made.
