Austin (KXAN)- The Austin Rodeo kicked off this weekend with a Willie Nelson and Friends performance scheduled for Saturday night.

Rodeo Austin was established in 1938. As one of Austin’s oldest entertainment and educational events, the event is now one of Austin’s largest event economic drivers.

Rodeo Austin awarded $2.5 million to the youth of Texas in 2014.

Dwight Yoakam takes the stage at the rodeo Sunday night. The Beach Boys, Boyz II Men and Martina McBride are also scheduled to perform.
