The Austin Police Department’s Robbery Unit is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a male suspect who approached a female victim in a Target parking lot and assaulted her while taking her purse. Happened on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police are trying to identify a man who robbed a woman in a Target parking lot on Feb. 24.

The robbery happened around 1 p.m. at the Target at Interstate 35 and Parmer Lane. Police said the suspect assaulted the woman and then ran off with her purse. The store’s surveillance camera was able to capture a shot of the suspect and the vehicle police believe he was driving.

Police say the robbery and suspect are unrelated to two other robberies which occurred the same day in similar fashion. An arrest has already been made in those robberies and robbery investigators initially thought all of the cases were connected. Upon receiving surveillance video and further investigation, they determined the Parmer Lane robbery was a different man unrelated to the suspect who had already been arrested.

The suspect is described as:

  • Black male
  • 30-40 years old
  • Approximately 6’1″
  • Approximately 200 lbs.
