AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man who owns a beauty store in North Austin says he was assaulted and sprayed with pepper spray by a woman who was shoplifting hair extensions, according to an arrest warrant. The robbery happened on Jan. 30 at the Ebony Beauty Mart located on East Rundberg Lane.
The store owner told police two women were shopping in his store when an employee noticed one of them hiding two hair extensions underneath her sweatshirt. While one of the women was paying for her hair extensions, the other woman, identified as Dejuana Adams, 22, tried to leave the store with the stolen items, according to the affidavit.
When the store owner ran after Adams and asked for his merchandise back, Adams refused; she then hit the owner in the head with her fist and sprayed him with pepper spray.
After reviewing security camera footage, police were able to identify the suspects.
Adams has not been arrested, but once in custody she will be charged with robbery by assault.
