ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) — A high-voltage computer chip-maker plans to move its headquarters to Round Rock from Ithaca, New York. Monolith Semiconductor wanted to move its management closer to its manufacturing partners in Lubbock.

“Round Rock was a natural choice because we can attract the right talent, grow our company, and raise our families in the same community,” said Monolith Semi CEO Sujit Banerjee, PhD. “We really look forward to being part of the Round Rock business community.

The company has also formed a partnership with Texas Tech University and plans to work with researchers there using the company’s silicon carbide semiconductor devices. This comes less than a week after a Dutch corporation announced it would purchase Austin-based Freescale Semiconductor. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
