IKEA ‘Home Smart’ furniture wirelessly charges gadgets

(CNN) — Swedish furniture giant IKEA wants your new furniture to do more than just look good. The new “Home Smart” line will wirelessly charge your smartphone and tablet. The aim is to cut down on cable clutter and eliminate the need to find a charger. The new line will go on sale in mid-April.

The “Home Smart” furniture uses a standard known as Qi, which is supported by most newer Android and Windows phones. IKEA says it’ll offer a special charging cover for iPhones and older Galaxy S phones to enable the wireless charging.
