AUSTIN (KXAN) — Friday is the day to pamper your pets to no end, since it’s National Love Your Pet Day. If there ever was a day to make them feel like the kings or queens of the world, today is it. Whether you’re a dog person, a cat person or fall somewhere in between — like our Amanda Dugan, who has a baby bearded dragon named Ted — National Love Your Pet Day celebrates all the furry friends, and even those without, that make your home complete.

National Love Your Pet Day falls on Feb. 20, and is the “unofficial” national holiday set aside to give extra attention to the pets you love every day, according to NationalDayCalender.com.

“This is a good day to focus on the special relationship that you have with your pets.”

The site says most households in the United States have at least one pet?

“Our pets give us so much. They give us unconditional love and many health benefits, which include stress relief and lower blood pressure,” says the calendar site. “Our pets give us these benefits without asking for anything in return. So on Feb. 20 (and everyday) show your  appreciation to your pets!”

Spoil them rotten with an extra walk, extra playtime, more belly rubs or even an extra treat. Whatever it is, have fun.
