Police investigate downtown bank robbery

A man robbed the Compass Bank at 321 W. 6th Street on Thursday.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police are investigating a bank robbery in downtown Austin. The robbery happened at the Compass Bank at Sixth and Guadalupe streets around 3:40 p.m.

Police said a man in his late 30s came in, demanded money and left, it doesn’t appear that he used a weapon.

“Officers were able to quickly detain a person in the area matching that description and APD is currently questioning him to see if he was involved in the case,” said Cpl. David Boyd with APD.
