FRANKFORT, Mich. (NBC/U.S. COAST GUARD) — A ruff ride ends well for a dog stranded in an icy Michigan Bay. The Coast Guard rescued the poor guy on Monday, with officers braving conditions not fit for man or beast. They plucked him from certain death, putting a twist on that old “best friend” phrase. The rescuers are with Coast Guard Station Frankfort, which says “Crews are prepared to respond to emergencies of all kinds, be they human or animal.”
