AUSTIN (KXAN) — A conference in downtown Austin this week looks forward to the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the potential benefits for humans.
The Association of Artificial Intelligence is hosting its annual conference at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on Barton Springs Road all week, and the public will have a chance to witness AI technology firsthand.
From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, the Artificial Intelligence Open House will feature an award-winning robot soccer team, along with robots that can play poker, perform search and rescue tasks, and give tours. Attendees can also hear from industry leaders about the potential impact AI could have on today’s world.
Many AI experts argue the technology can be very beneficial and not demon-like, as some suggest robots could become.
“The vast majority of research that’s going there’s no concerns,” said Nathan Sturtevant, Associate Professor at the University of Denver. “There’s no fears at all about how the technology could be used or where the technology is going.”
Monday’s open house at the Hyatt is free and open to the public, but organizers ask attendees to register beforehand. Click here for more information.
