AUSTIN (KXAN) — Congress Avenue and a number of cross streets will be closed for several hours Tuesday for the inaugural parade. Closures on Congress stretch from 11th Street all the way down to Riverside Drive. Traffic trying to cross from east to west will need to use 15th Street to the north, or Riverside Drive on the south side.
Streets on the east and west sides of the Capitol will also be closed for much of the day.
Gov.-elect Greg Abbott will take the oath of office during a ceremony starting at 11 a.m. The parade is scheduled to last from 2-4 p.m.
The street closures are set to go into place at 9:30 a.m., and are scheduled to last until 6 p.m.
During the inauguration, Capital Metro said express buses will be replaced by local buses. This will affect riders on Routes 935, 970, 982, 983, 985, 987, 990.
