AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police say a man was killed Sunday night when the SUV he was driving rolled over, crashed into a business and landed on top of a truck in a parking lot at North Lamar Boulevard and 29th Street. Emergency responders were called to the scene in the 2900 block of North Lamar about 9:25 p.m. Sunday. Austin-Travis County EMS officials say the driver, later identified as 24-year-old Bryan Lee Randle, was pinned inside the SUV and that rescuers initially had trouble reaching him.

Crews stabilized the SUV, and medics pronounced him dead around 10:30 p.m. No one else was injured, police said.

Police said Randle’s SUV was going south along Lamar at a high rate of speed when his Chevy Tahoe lost control and went airborne. Officers closed North Lamar Boulevard in both directions near 29th Street as rescuers worked to free the man from the SUV.

This was Austin’s seventh deadly traffic crash and the seventh death of 2015. At this time in 2014, there were two deadly crashes and three deaths. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
