Timelapse captures Comet Lovejoy over mountains

CHANGBAISHAN, China (NBC/CCTV VIA APTN) — A beautiful sight happened in northeastern China, where a comet was captured on video traveling over a mountain range. This timelapse video shows Comet Lovejoy’s movements over China’s Changbai Mountain on Monday night. The greenish-comet could be spotted easily in the night sky because the area is free of pollution and city lights.

The comet was discovered back in August from Australia in the Southern Hemisphere’s Milky Way. It was named after its discoverer, amateur astronomer Terry Lovejoy.
