AUSTIN (KXAN) — A restaurant in China has an offer you can’t refuse: free meals … but only for “beautiful people,” according to Mashable.
“Welcome to the only place on Earth where paying for your meal puts a dent in your wallet and your self-esteem,” posts Mashable.
Jeju Island is the name of the restaurant, and it is running a promotion that is “part beauty contest, part early bird special”: free meals to the first 50 attractive customers to get to its doors every day.
Before they order, customers are taken to a “beauty identification area,” where their faces are reportedly scanned and considered by a team of plastic surgeons who work for the restaurant to promote their services. Customers are evaluated on the “quality of their faces, eyes, noses and mouths,” where “protruding foreheads a particular advantage.”
Jeju Island is also reportedly promoting its offer with a bright pink sign that reads: “Restaurant for Good Looking,” though Mashable reports that authorities have tried to remove it because the restaurant didn’t get permission to display it.
