AUSTIN (KXAN) — Older Texans and those with disabilities now have a new help line for long-term care services. The Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services launched a new toll-free number that streamlines the process for obtaining referrals for services. People who are 65 and older, those with disabilities, and caregivers can access long-term care services with one phone call.

The new line is a response to the demands of our aging population. The latest U.S. Census data shows the number of Texans over 65 is expected to more than double by 2040.  DADS estimates 40 percent of Texans have some type of disability that may require long-term care, including personal care, nursing care, help around the house, and help for caregivers.

The toll-free number is 1-855-937-2372.  DADS also has several informational videos on their website for those seeking care.
