13 displaced in North Austin apartment fire

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Thirteen people are without a home Thursday following a fire at a North Austin apartment complex. The fire started about 5:30 p.m. on the first floor of the three-story building at 8226 Research Boulevard and damaged two units. Crews had the fire under control within 30 minutes.

Fire officials said the blaze was contained to the first-floor apartment and the unit above it. Seven people lived in one of the three-bedroom units, and six more lived in the other home that was damaged. No one was injured.

The fire caused about $75,000 worth of damage. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
