Motorcyclist dies in Southeast Austin car crash

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A motorcyclist is dead after he crashed with a car in Southeast Austin late Tuesday night. According to Austin police, the crash happened around 9:30 p.m. in the 4700 block of East Riverside Drive. Austin-Travis County EMS transported the motorcyclist, a 22-year-old man, to University Medical Center Brackenridge, but he died a short time later.

Police said a Ford Focus was trying to turn left into an apartment complex when it crossed into the motorcycle’s path. Police said the rider was wearing a helmet.

This was Austin’s 4th deadly traffic crash of 2015 and the 4th death of 2015. At this time in 2014, there were two deadly crashes and three traffic deaths.
