Pedestrian hit on Interstate 35

AUSTIN (KXAN) – One person was rushed to an Austin hospital after being struck while trying to cross Interstate 35 Monday afternoon in Austin.

Two southbound lanes were closed just north of 51st Street while rescue crews tended to the victim and cleaned up the roadway.

The incident happened around 1:50 p.m. Police tell KXAN two people were running across the freeway when one of them was struck by a car.
