Most of us have put away the tree and trimmings and are into the new year with thoughts of Christmas behind us. But a beloved Mexican tradition will have many celebrating another level of Christmas on January 6th. Chuy Guevara with Mi Tradición Bakery spoke to us about Día de los Reyes. The English translation is The Day of Kings, and it commemorates the arrival of the three Magi or Wise Men. Rosca de Reyes is a ring-shaped cake that is shared on January 6th. A baby is hidden inside the cake that represents the baby Jesus; the person that finds the baby has the responsibility of hosting a tamale dinner on February 2. Mi Tradicion is a self-serve bakery. Traditional tacos and tortas are also sold along with aguas frescas. Mi Tradicion provides a taste of traditional Mexico that will leave overwhelmed with the smells and satisfaction of sweet bread delicacy.
