Backpack prompts police response near University of Texas

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Austin police and firefighters were called to the intersection San Jacinto Blvd and Martin Luther King Blvd to investigate a suspicious backpack on a bus near the University of Texas at Austin.

Police responded just before 2 p.m., and gave the all-clear about 4 p.m.

Police closed MLK between Brazos and Trinity streets during their investigation, and Capital Metro had to reroute buses traveling southbound on San Jacinto to MLK, Congress and 15th Streets. The roadways have since reopened.
